Flourescent and Incandescent lights on same switch
« on: December 25, 2006, 06:34:39 PM »

Am working on replacing some switches for lights in my house.

I have one room with 1 flourescent light and 1 incandescent light on the same switch.  I have a Leviton Cat 6291 that I used in my old house for a ceiling fan.  The description is here of the switch I have although mine is an older model  http://assets.twacomm.com/assets/pdf/14395.pdf.  Will the switch I have work?  Any hazards I should be aware with the combo of flourescent and incadescent?  Thanks for any help.

Unless the fluorescent light is dimable, it could be a problem. As some don't like being dimmed.
Also note on the page you indicated that electronic loads like CFLs need the 6287 Noise Blocker. Most likely to stop powerline noise from interfeering with the X10 signals.
Hopefully anyone with a combination of incandescent and fluorescent on the same switch may have added information.
