Crashes

When I attempt to turn on Lifestyle, AHP crashes.
When I attempt to delete a room, AHP again crashes.
It did work and has just started these crashes lately.
Thanks for any help.

warbird: I also have AHP crash occasionally. I haven't noticed a particular activity to cause it as you have. When I was running Version 3.203, this was almost a daily thing; when 3.204 came out, the occurrences were few & far between. Last night I updated to 3.206 (OnAlert) and it occurred once already... here's hoping the constant problem did not return with this version.  :-

If it does and I notice a pattern / activity that triggers it, I will post what I find.

My OS is Win2K... just in case that is a factor.

Since you say it just started after you did some work. Have you did a full Scandisk and Defrag of your drive AHP is located on?
Once you start adding and deleting your AHX file will get fragmented causing slowdowns and error this happens with ANY file on your hard drive!
A Full scandisk in XP requires a shut down to perform!
I did some adding of ninja Pan & tilts and found after words AHP would give me the "USB error" and want to redownload to the interface, a Scandisk & Defrag has fixed this  or appears to have   for now!
Note: a scandisk should be performed before a defrag 
I'm not saying every time you change something in AHP you need to do this, but if strange errors or behaviour starts to occur this should be considered!

Providing a little more info about your setup might help to troubleshoot to.  What does the error message say, what Operating System are you using, what version of AHP?

Well it looks like the crashing problem of Version 3.203 is back with Version 3.206... at least for me. 
It happens just about everyday now since I installed OnAlert (Version 3.206) last weekend.

Here is the error I get:




It only occurs when I'm working with Macros. It seems to happen when I do a left mouse click on something inside the macro.

I cleaned up & defrag'd my HD, so I can eliminate that. Does anyone else have this crash problem?

If so, please post what you are doing when it happens and which Version & OS you use. Thanks.

Which is why I don't have any plug-ins and no plans to ever get one.

My 3.204 does not crash.

Couple of questions:

• 1: Is it every macro or just ones in a certain room?
• 2: Is it with creating macros or ones already built?

The only time I've ever got errors such as this are:

• When I was duplicating a problem for another user and adding to many macros,modules,and other info in macros at once with out saving!
• When I had a corrupt AHX file

Since I kept my builds to a minimum before saving this has stop!
Also I now download to the hard drive and install from the hard drive. I have a back up ahx file which I now copy my  into AHP after the update and over write the old one there!

Although installs from the internet will corrupt an AHX file , so will an update!
Puck does many hours of trouble shooting for other members and is a power user him self!
The larger your setup the more chances at having a problem!
You your self have admitted you have a small setup!

It happened in a couple rooms.

Happens with editing existing ones as well as during the building of new ones..

The only time I've ever got errors such as this are:

I have definitely seen it happen because of not saving often enough. But after posting (last night) it happened as soon as a clicked on EDIT a macro.

Yeah...the most probable cause. I do keep a backup file when I make major changes (almost weekly), guess I should have used that after the update.   

Because of the big changes that I want to make now that I have OnAlert, I think I'm gonna start a new (clean) file. I will post back here when I see if that does cure the crash problem or not.

It maybe useful to review and post the crash time entries that should appear in the Application and/or System event logs.  Occassionally this is useful information.

Probaly the best plan as this plug-in alows for some "Major Changes" to you setup!
Since AHP uses the Phantom trick for the security modules it is best to try and install them all on the same house code and lable the code they are using in the "note:" at the bottom left of each macro!
I kept all my security modules in one room (to keep it simple) labled "Home Security"
