PS561 ONLY WORKS WITH DC POWER--NOT AC !!

This is the second PS561 that the AC circuit quit working (after a big popping sound). The first one I converted over to strictly DC power, with a AC-DC transformer and a AC UPS.

Short of returning the latest one that quit, is it possible to fix it my self ??
