Wake up my computer
« on: January 18, 2007, 07:54:55 PM »

My computer stays on during the day but goes into standby.  When I try to connect using MyHouse Online, it says "waiting for system ......"  Is there a way to "wake-up" my computer so I can use MyHouse?  Or is there a suggested setup for XP power functions so that it keeps the NIC card/internet connection live?

Thanks

It's in the power settings in the Control Panel.  Set it to "Always On" to eliminate it going to "sleep".  My main system is on 24/7, I just turn the monitor off at night. I usually reboot once a week or more often if Microsoft delivers an update or a new program is installed that requires a reboot.

Click your start button, and select Control Panel

In Control Panel select Power Options

In the pop-up panel ...under Power Schemes Tab...in the drop down box select Aways On

Then click the Advanced Tab and make sure all options there are Do Nothing.

Then, of course you will want to turn off your screen saver, and leave you monitor OFF when your not at the PC.
