WS467 Wall Switches
« on: January 26, 2007, 01:20:25 PM »

I'm new, so this may be a simplistic question. I have just installed two new WS467 wall switches to control my porch lights on the front and back of the house. I have followed the instructions and set the codes. My problem is every once in a while, my back porch light will come on for no reason when one of the other modules is activated. The code is set to a different number than any other switch or module in my house, yet it still does this. I finally had to remove that switch and go with a Socket Rocket instead. I would rather have the switch, but is there any way I can stop the random light on situation?

Thank you!

Please provide more details of your set-up.

What are you using to active the switches? (Motion sensor, timer, manually selecting the module in AHP, etc.)

Any X10 module will continue to respond to commands ('on', 'off', 'dim', etc) until it sees a new house/module code that is not its own.

So, if your back porch light wall switch does not "see" the house/module code for that other module, but "sees" the 'on' command, it will turn 'on'.

Yes I can confirm the seeing an ON with no new address. I have a chime module on A4. Sometimes another on is sent to another A like A5. If the A5 is missed and it only sees the ON. It chimes a second time.

The lights are controlled by both the switch and a palm pad remote. The problem deals with the light coming on at random times, even when no commands are used from either source to activate the light or any other lights for that matter. It seems to be only when used at one certain code number also. I have since reinstalled the switch, changed the code to a higher number and it has been fine for a while now with no further random lighting. I then used the code I had originally used on that switch for a light in another part of the house and have had no problem with it coming on at random either. Apparently there is some kind of interference someplace causing this.
