CM11A losing connection to PC
« on: February 10, 2007, 02:08:24 AM »

I have a CM11a interface that I obtained at a thrift store awhile back. After downloading the software for it, I got it to work just fine. However, for some reason, when I go to use it after awhile, Activehome can no longer communicate with it. I found that exiting Activehome, and unplugging the CM11a from both PC and power, then reconnecting, seems to solve it. Is there a fix for this, or has my CM11a just had it?  :(

Are you using Windows XP? The CM11A and Active Home Software is known to loose communications in XP.
You may want to try this as it sometimes helps.
Right click the Activehome Icon
Compatibility Tab
Run as Windows98/ME
Disable Visual Themes
Turn off Advanced Text Services.

I've also had similar issues running Activehome and the CM11a under 98SE and 2000.

I never had a problem with 98SE and in XP all you had to do was close the progarm and restart. Maybe you did get a flaky unit.
Hope others will chime in with their experiences.

I second Hemingray;
My CM11A(s) would lock up periodically (circa 1998). I don't think it is an OS function because the CM11s  would also lock up on a MAC that I was using for text to speech, to announce events.  I got into the habit of re-booting the MAC and the PC once a week as the problem solution.

Brian,

Please move this thread to the Active Home forum as it deals solely with the CM11A.

Thanx.
