Motion detected recording or camera movement
« on: March 16, 2007, 11:29:26 AM »

I would like to know how to set up a camera/pan'n tilt so that it in effect follows the detected motion.
I believe that it is done with a macro that moves the camera from one saved position to the next.
X10 advertises this, but they cannot tell me how!
Thanks,
Judd

You can do this with AHP and the IWitness plug in. It would take several motion sensors located where you want the camera to look. The only problem with this is that the Ninja does not move very fast. If the object you want to follow is walking close to the camera the Ninja will probably not keep up. If the object is further away this will work.

If you have AHP with the IWitness plugin and need more assistance getting this working please post back.

Jim,
Thanks for the response. I have iWitness and AHP and have been  reading up on these.
I understand how to set the presets on the Ninja unit itself, but have not quite figured out the iWitness part yet.
Thanks for any additional help.

Judd,

Make a macro that is triggered by the motion sensor for the location you want the camera to look. Using AHP set the preset for the disired location.

In the macro do this
1.  Under video functions select the camera with "select camera"
2   Select the camera location with "Goto preset"

The camera will be selected and it should go to the preset you selected.
Steps 1 and 2 are found under "video Functions" in the macro.  This is on the right hand side of the screen.

Let us know if you need more help.   :)
