Vista compatibility and modules
« on: June 30, 2007, 08:44:23 PM »

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if the ActiveHome software used to controll the modules will work on vista...any ideas?

Secondly, if I add any modules from other vendors, is it still possible to controll them through the x10 codes on the software configuration?
For example, I am planning to purchase the following:

What do you all think?

That's the 64,000 Dollar question.

Active Home is no longer in production and X10 USA has been selling off the stock they still have.  They have no plans to do any Vista upgrades for an obsolete product.

If you have it, the only way is to install ir under Vista and see if it works.

If you mean the old Active Home software for the CM11A, Dan is right, I too have seen no posts about it working or not working with Vista.

If you mean Active Home Pro software for the CM15A then you are fairly safe with Vista as long as you are addressing basic X10 modules and are not interested in X10 camera software.

In the real world, the only constant is change.

When I'm online you can find me in the Home Automation Chat Room!

Hello everyone, I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit installed on my computer and ActiveHome Pro does not work with Vista 64 bit. Also, I did an online chat with "Brett" and he said "Not as of yet, no. However, there is a  customer designed fix on our forums  that you can try. If you choose to do  so however, please remember that this  fix was designed by a customer, not by  our company. As such, we can neither  support the fix or be held responsible  for any problems that may occur as a  result of using it."
The choice is yours. I'll wait a while and see if they come out with a fix.
Have a great day everyone.

You could be waiting a long while.

The most encouraging part of your experience is that X10 acknowledged that there are people out there solving their problems for them. It means at least 1 person there remembers that there is a forum here. We were beginning to thing they had forgotten about the forum.

I have vista 64 ult. and active home works fine except for the cameras. Which is why such customer support made me never to buy from x10 again.
