The biggest problem I have had with X-10 has been the range of the CM15A, while connected to my computer.  I have found a prouduct that allows users to place the CM15A up to 150 feet away from their computer.  It cost about 50 dollars, and converts a USB signal to cat 5 and back to USB.  It is made by cables unlimited and is called a USB Extension over Cat5.

Please give us more information on the product. Cat5 cable is easy to run, this sounds like an easy and inexpensive solution to CM15 range problems.
I don't SELL this stuff... BUT I sure do ENJOY using it!!!

Hi,

I also found a very easy and inexpensive way to significantly improve the range on CM15A module using a standard VHF/FM dipole antenna.  Thought I would share it since it's a very frustrating issue.  No modification to the module is required and it only requires about 2 minutes to do.

Roll tightly the VHF/FM antenna wire around the CM15A antenna.  You can wrap tape around the CM15A antenna to keep it in place.  I get better results with 90 degrees between dipoles.  There you go!  My coverage increased to up to 100 feet using a UR74A remote.

Enjoy! ;)
