What's the best practice for this...... ???
« on: September 26, 2007, 03:08:21 PM »

Hey folks:

I have a small dilemma,,, since I installed the X-10 camera system (4 cameras) I get various lights turning on at random.  I'm wondering if there is a better way to allocate my housecodes....

Current set up: 3 751s,
one in garage, housecode A, it's controlling 8 lamp modules
one in living room, housecode E, controlling 6 lamp modules
one in computer room, housecode C, controlling the cameras via the camera package vanguard sw.

random events turning on various lights,,,, I was thinking of resetting the housecode on the current E set, that is the one with the problem.
thoughts.....  ????

Your house codes should be fine.
The house codes C & E bit patterns are close (0010 & 0001 respectively) but I don't recall hearing of a problem with the two being interpreted incorrectly by transceivers.

If this problem only occurred since installing the camera package, then there may be something not set correctly there.

Are there any motion sensors that are new with the camera package? If so, have you verified their house codes?

One other thought, if you have the power adapter for the camera system's wireless receiver plugged into an outlet on the same circuit as the your house code E modules, it could be generating noise and causing modules to come on randomly.

Thanks for the info.  I do have the receiver on the same house circuit,,, but I'm pretty much stuck with that.  Just for grins I changed the E set over to M, no spurious lights last night, for what ever that means at this point.

cheers
