It's best (easier?) to change the code if you have a clear strong signal. I have done it using the AHP. I happened to have a lamp, with its cord within reach of the AHP plug. I simply plugged the lamp in the same plug above the AHP interface, put the SocketRocket in the lamp. Then turned the new code ON three times ... it worked for me.

Some say temporarily add a Chime Module on the Address you want. You have 30 seconds from power on to change it by chiming the chime three times; works best; others have written a macro to send the address.

I've always used a HR12A palm pad to do this ! ;)
However others have programed it with Active Home Pro as Dave_x10_L stated!
Note:  As Brian H stated:
Quote
You have 30 seconds from power on to change it

If it takes you longer then this to send the commands the code will not change!

I use a MC460 and a lamp to change code on a Socket Rocket.   No muss, no fuss.

Hi, yes I am new to this but think I have my head around most of it now.....the only thing I can not get to work is the socket rocket. I have plugged a lamp into the socket above where the AHP is plugged in, I have tried using a macro and chime, I am sending the ON command within 30 seconds but still can not get it programmed. I am using the house code O and tried setting the unit code to 06 and 08. An idea's or anything else I can try???

Many thanks!

Did you send the on command 3 times within 30 sec of applying power to the socket rocket?

In the real world, the only constant is change.

You have to send the command 3 or more times in a row (until the light bulb in the Socket Rocket turns on) within those 30 seconds.

Don't use a macro.  Just drag a chime module icon into the room, set it to the housecode|unit you want,  and click the circular image on the icon 3 times immediately after powering up the Socket Rocket.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.

Yes I tried it 3 times at 1 second part, I tried it lots of time as fast as I could, and I tried 3+ times up to and over the 30 seconds. Can't think what to try next??

Thanks

I have plugged a lamp into the socket above where the AHP is plugged in

Are both outlets electrically equivalent?

Some wall plugs, usually in a kitchen, have the 2 outlets on different breakers and sometimes on different phases. Make sure they are on the same breaker and make sure nothing else is on that same breaker that is corrupting the X10 signal.

Plug the lamp with the socket rocket in it into the same outlet with the MC460/CM15A.  That insures the signals from the controller reach the socket rocket.

Also make sure the lamp you have screwed into socket rocket is an incandescent. I tried to program a Socket Rocket with an LED bulb in it, and it would not accept programming. Programmed fine after I replaced with an incandescent bulb. Once programmed it controls the 3 watt CREE LED just fine. Don't know why, since Socket Rocket obviously is connected to neutral.
