Hi,
I was wondering if the Ninja scanpad remote will control cameras not using the pan- and- tilt- base? I only want to buy ONE camera remote control for multiple cameras that will include any upgrading I may do in the future. I phoned customer service and the rep said it does but the website info seems to indicate it only controls the pan-tilt-base.
Can anyone clarify this for me?

The CR15A Pan 'n Tilt remote has buttons for 4 cameras.

OK thanks, but do the 4 cameras have to be sitting on Pan n Tilt bases or can they just be ordinary cameras on their own?

They can just be ordinary X10 cameras of the type which are shipped with an X10 programmable power supply.

BTW, if you don't have a Ninja Pan 'n Tilt platform, you can use almost any X10 RF remote (plus a transceiver), e.g., the HR12A PalmPad or one of the Universal Remotes with X10 RF.  Or even a plug-in MiniController.  The logic is in the X10 programmable camera power supply - when one power supply is turned On, the others within the same group of four unit codes (1-4, 5-8, etc) turn themselves Off.

With the HR12A you'd press the button corresponding to the camera you want to view.

I don't own a CR12A or CR13A, but from the instruction sheets it looks like you can rotate through four cameras by repeatedly pressing the same button.

Wade through the special deals at http://www.x10.com today.  They're offering 4 for 1 on the CR12A, 5 for 1 on the HR12A and 6 for 1 on the CR13A.   Or check X10 authorized reseller stores on eBay for better prices on individual pieces.  (Avoid the surplus dealers.)
