cm15a F conector mod
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:51:30 PM »

I cannot even begin to explain how ticked off I am. I went out and spent over $120 on tools to do this mod, followed the instructions exactly, and now my cm15a has 0 RF range - I mean none at all. Any ideas on why this is? Does anyone have one already modded that they want to sell?

Do you see any RF activity in the monitor screen. Many times AHP defaults to not transceiveing any House Code. In the tools tab hardware configuration. Look to see if the house codes you want to use are set to be transceived.

No solder shorts? If you have a multimeter, check for shorts on the male and female F connectors, center pin to outside shell.

Dave made a good point. I would check for shorts also; as mine even with no antenna; just the F jack still receives stuff close.

No activity at all in the activity monitor. I will check for shorts today. Thanks!

for around $90 you can buy a V572RF32 and save yourself the headaches.  Not to mention you now have a CM15A that's no longer covered be a warranty.
