IR 543 Keeps Freezing Up?

I have a new active pro home system.  I'm using an IR 543 to control some of the lights from my universal remote.  It all works great except for 1 problem.  Every few days the IR 543 will freeze up.  It tends to happen when it has been sitting unused for a period of time like over night.  When it freezes it won't resond to the signal.  The red light won't light up like it is not getting the signal.  I've had to go and press one of the hard buttons on the unit.  This helps sometimes but other times it will cause more problems.  It will cause the 543 to get a signal but the light will just stay on like it is getting a long IR signal.  After a while it seems to clear up or I have to just unplug it which seems to eventually fix it.  As you can imagine it is a pain.  Could it be where it is plugged in relation to the other x10 modules or the active pro home base?  Could it be a faulty unit?

Any idea or help would be great.

What type of universal remote are you using? It may be the remote not the unit. another suggestion is to try plugging the IR543 into another outlet and seeing if you still have the same problem.(use it locally without the remote and away from your x10 modules).
X10 has brought me closer to my inner geek! But it has aslo made my wife look at me funny!

It is on a Harmony 880 but it usually works great.  Just when it freezes up and typically it won't work on the box either.  So if I hit a button it the light will just stay on.  I'm going to keep trying to move it around to other outlets.

I'm having the same freeze problem but the light stays ON when it freezes up.  I have two of them and they both do the same thing; press a button and the LED on top and the one in the front window illuminate and never go out; no signals sent, just stays on.  When I unplug it, the LED's dim very slowly then go out.  Try another outlet, I might get one command off and then, the lights stay on solid again and no commands sent.  No activity in the Activity Window of AHP either.  If noone else has similar probs, I might have to RMA it tomorrow.  Thanks in advance anyone!

You should also make sure it is not facing the TV. The TV color  and lights messes with mine all the time so I have to put it facing away. It can't even be sitting 90 degrees from it.

Another thing but doesn't seem to be you guys probelm but it the switch that sets it from unit codes 1-4 to 5-9 is not switched all the way it will not function either.

An excellent call Jsnlong! Shielding the IR543 by sticking it in a box (open only toward the user) should see if that is the problem.

You MUST be FREAKING kidding me!  O M G ... I bought those a year ago and was about to either throw them away or dismantle them and NOW, when they're not in the TV room, they work PERFECT.   WOW ... what a CRAZY fix!!

Anyway, THANKS!!!
