smaller appliance module and/or two socket controller please!
« on: February 06, 2008, 01:43:45 AM »

My first post, go easy on me ;)
I have lights and a pump in my garden, both 3-prong plugs plugged in to a standard above-ground 4-outlet box with a plastic cover.  I'd like to control both.  My landscaper gave me a simple X10PRO system but we couldn't figure out how to physically connect two 3-pin appliance modules.  The bloody X10Pro 3-pin appliance module (PAM-02?) blocks all the other sockets in a quad outlet!

a) Make an appliance module that doesn't block other outlets.  This is the 1980s, "miniaturization" and "compact" are the latest trends!

b) Make an appliance module that independently controls two 3-pin outlets.

Are a) and b) available?  Is there another solution that's weatherproof?

Thanks indeed.

I'm a long time user and big fan of the Black & Decker cord switch also. I try and have an extra one around all the time. I've learned from experience that they are invaluable to have around. I just ordered another one because I just put my spare into use and know I'll find a use for another one sometime in the future.

Black & Decker calls them "Outdoor Lamp Receivers" but they're rated and act like an appliance module without  local control.
i.e. They do not dim or respond to an "All Lights On" command.

Label says rated for 120V AC, 60 Hz
Resistive Load           15A
Motor Load              1/3 HP
Incandescent Lamp   500W

Is the B&D stuff still available? I'm getting tired of kluging Socket Rockets into low current "silent" appliance modules.

Thanks Dan; I should have indicated it was an Northeast area store.
