SR227 problem
« on: February 17, 2008, 06:37:22 PM »

I have the active home all set up and it controls a light via the SR227. The light shuts off but does not turn back on. When I tun the light on and off nothing happens. It is as if the outlet is frozen in the off position.
When I remove the plug from the x10 outlet and plug it into the other outlet it works. The only way I can get the light to work again in the x10 outlet is to control it on the active home with it plugged into the interface and hit the switch on the computer screen on and off. I then hear the clicking. Then the x10 can control the light. HELP!!

Need to know:  Are you using the Active Home/CM11A serial interface or Active Home Professional/CM15A USB interface, plus the O/S of your computer.

Now, please explain your problem in more detail.  Is the SR227 installed in AHP?  Did you set the housecode/unit code in it? Is the light plugged into the controlled outlet or the non-controlled outlet?

Your problem could be noise or phase problems as well.

The SR227 is connected through the AHP PRO. I have 5 other sr227 that work perfectly. This module was working pefectly until last week.  The light  is in the controlled outlet.

It only works on the controlled outlet when I have the computer with AHP, plugged into the interface and manualy turn it on and off on the AHP screen.

It behaves as if the controlled outlet is off and only comes back on when I manualy turn it on through the interface and the AHP program.

The other SR227 work fine.

Next question.  Is the non-working SR227 in the same room with any new electronic equipment?   Many  electronic equipment (HDTV's, computers, etc). produce noise that affect X10 signals.

There is nothing new at all in the room.  Might it just be defective?

Try changing the House code/Unit code in the 227.  Delete the old one, create a new SR227 in the room in AHP and add a timer to it. If AHP can control it, there's no phase problem. If it still doesn't work with a timer and you have a lamp module handy, plug it into the uncontrolled outlet and give it the same address as the 227.  Delete the 227 from AHP and add the lamp module, give it the address,  same timer and see if it responds.  If it does, either keep the lamp module or get a new 227.  I use the uncontrolled outlet at Christmas time to control 2 lamp modules that control displays, with 2 extension cords.

First off, Thank you for your assistance.

I changed the code. No change.
I used the lamp module, it worked.

A little more about my system, I have A signalinc phase coupler which has been wonderful for the entire system.

But over the course of playing with the sr227 I turned the module in  question on and off via active home. And I found that the module actually made multiple click sounds when I turned it on in AHP and the light flashed and shut down. Hitting off in AHP there was no clicking. I did it 5-6 times in a row and got multiple clicking with a flash of light  and the outlet remained off. After the 5-6 time, I hit on and the outlet clicked ONCE and the light remained on. When I tried to duplicate it again, it reverted to the multiple clicking.

To let you know, I shut off the repeat, so the multiple clicks are not being generated by AHP. I also got the multiple clicks when I pulled out the phase coupler.

My thought process is telling me that the SR227 is defective.

BTW, try http://www.automatedoutlet.com/ for your new SR227.  They are cheaper than X10 for items and shipping is $7.95 regardless of the order size.

eBay is cheaper still!  I don't have any SR227's but like the look & will probably be replacing appliance modules with these in my next go-around.
