I seem to be having a problem with control of one switch at my front door.  When I use the AHP software control manually it will go on and off and dim with no problem.  The issue is the controller will not turn this switch ON using the timer.  I  can turn the switch on manually at the wall and then the timer will dim it and turn it off.  I thought it was the switch so replaced it but the new one has the same issue.

While reading the forum post of others I see that maybe I have th AHP controller too close to the computer, can this be true?  The computer is on the same circuit as the front door light, in fact about 3 feet away from the switch. Computer is also on a powerstrip surge protector but the controller is plugged directly into the wall, not the strip.  Funny in that it has no problem controlling my landscape lights just this one switch.  This same circuit has a small aquarium pump working too, but I am thinking the noise shouldn't be an issue as it's working on the other module.

My goal is to turn the light on 100% till 11:00PM and then have it dim to 25-30% until dusk.  Seems like this should work.  Should I move the AHP controller to another circuit away from the surge surpressor?  Is th surpressor intefering with the switch being that close, what is a good distance away?

I'm having the same exact issue. The timer turns on/off my map module and CCTV monitor on the wall downstairs with no problem vis timer. My porch light and outside house lights will not operate via timer. Only manually. Tried macros, same issue. Tried different modules in the settings vs the wall switch-same issue. I cannot see how a surge protector would have any bearing on this problem as it works fine manually. Seems to be software related.

Surge Protectors block X10 signals.   If the CM15 needs to be near the computer, you will need a plug-in noise filter, or plug the CM15 into a extension cord that is not on a surge protector.

Have to say that it makes little sense that it can operate perfectly manually as stated above yet not via the timer because of a surge protector. Why would that be the case? If the surge protector was somehow blocking the signal then why does it work fine manually? BTW mine is not plugged into a surge protector anyhow though the computer is.

Is it a wall switch you are trying to turn on.  http://www.smarthome.com/2031w.html is this it?


I have one that the timers and macros don't work turning them on but will turn them off. I had to tell AHP that it was a appliance module instead.  I can't dim them but they do come on and off when I want it to.

Thanks for the reply. I am using the decorator 3 way switch. I tried the appliance module trick to no avail. In fact I tried all of the one's available and still the timer will not turn those 2 on. I can operate them all day long manually with no problem, just the timer does not work other than turning them off. They will not turn on. All of my other plug in modules work spot on.

AHP is known to have problems with the LM456 Lamp Modules with the new Soft Start feature.
In the X10 Knowledgebase it seems the newer wall switches also have Soft Start. Maybe this is part of the problem.

Try the LM14A module they saiid may give best results. 

Also from what we have seen here. X10 has not marked the model numbers differently between Soft Start and older modules. 

In the X10Pro line their web seems to indicate they have New Part Numbers to distinguish between Older and Soft Start versions.

Ok, finally got it working. I used the 3 pin appliance modules option  to control my 3 way decorator wall switches.
