I have an x10 module which sends on at dusk and after 3 hours sends an off signal. I have 2 x10 switches and they work perfect with light fixtures using halagen bulbs. I had issue with a thrid switch using flourescent bulbs. I swapped it out for an INSTEON Switch which has the same problem. I was advised to put an XPNR filter at on the line and did. Nothing seems to help. Any suggestions. The ON functions fine but I am guessing the noise screws up the OFF command. I would appreciate possible solutions and not pull out the flourescent lights.

The XPNR may not have been the best choice. It is designed to remove noise above and below the X10 powerline signals 120 KHz. If the bulb in question is making noise on the X10 frequency. That filter will not help and the noise will cause the X10 off to possibly be missed when the light is on.
The XPF maybe a better choice but it is heavy duty and large to fit in many places. I am sure others that have used lighter filters may add more data for you.

As Brian said, the XPNR is not the right choice for this problem.  I recommend installing a Leviton 6287 filter in-line between your X10 switch and the first CFL fixture in the string.  That filter is small enough to squeeze in behind the X10 switch in a deep electrical box.  Otherwise, it can probably fit in the connection box at the first fixture.  For more info, here is my troubleshooting guide on how to deal with CFLs:

Just to be clear, you installed the Leviton 6276 in-line between the Insteon/X10 switch and the fluorescent lights?  You also wired it with the black leads in the hot path, and both white leads connected to neutral?

That certainly should block noise produced by the fluorescent lights from reaching the Insteon/X10 switch.

Let's back up here.  It wasn't stated in your earlier message whether you were using a switch that had a neutral connection.  Can we assume the switch in question is designed for fluorescent lights?  That means a relay switch with a neutral connection.  Most fluorescent lights will not work with dimmer switches.

If you are using the correct type of switch, and the 6287 is correctly installed to block any interference from the fluorescent lights, then the only option left is to increase the signal strength.  However, if your other switches work fine, I wonder why the signal strength at this particular switch would be too weak.  Could you provide more details?
