Interface Old Security Alarms with New AHP & CM15A
« on: September 13, 2008, 04:49:42 PM »

Hi,
I am running two old x10 security alarms 1> Heath Zenith SS-6100 & 2> Radio Shack plug'n power (not sure witch # is right 610-2611 or 61-2673 along with many modules and controllers.  All well and good, I recently got AHP & CM15A.  I love it and it looks like I might be able to interface my old alarms/sensors?  My first question is what alarm panel do I use in AHP? Pro2000 maybe?
If I install a security sencor like a door/window it asks me to push test button, I do and it says completed.  After I close that window it shows the icon for that sensor with INSTALL crossed it. It does install the keychain remote the same way. In the history I can see a record of the devices.  So do I have to upgrade to the PS561 to get features working right or is there a doc on how to tie in 3rd party alarms etc..
Protector Plus=Kit & PS561=Console itself.. Right?
I have searched, only to find the newer Radio Shack alarm info.  By the way Booth my alarms, Radio Shack & Heath Zenith are Identical other than the label.

Question number 2: Pendant #HP564, Will it work with my CM15A? or if I upgrade to the x10 PS561 alarm or must I also purchase the Personal Assistant #PA5800?

Sorry for the long way around.. Thanks for your time!

My first question is what alarm panel do I use in AHP? Pro2000 maybe?
I used info found here on the X10 forum directing me back to my On Alert Plug-in Help(Using a Security Module to Trigger a Macro), for the newer PS561 and it worked fine.
I told AHP I had a Protector Plus, but I guess that icon is just for show anyway.
Note.. I have upgraded to using the PS561 as my primary with one of the old Radio Shack 610-2611 (in the garage) and a PA5800 for the wife and all is well and working together, BUT, as also found here on this forum, all are on DIFFERENT house codes.
Also Noted.. The range of the newer alarm system and sensors is much greater!
The older w/d sensors did have screw terminals for your wires but, the new x10  DS10A do not.

Thanks to all the many folks out there taking the time to help others.  I am sorry for not being able to give individual credit.  I can only say, that keeping better records is in my MUST DO List!
To the many other beginners, I posted my own reply, in hopes it might also help some one else,  and keep reading, the answer to most questions is out there. Don’t give up!
Thank again, Rocky
