I'd like to be able to get a notification if one of my sliding doors is closed but not locked. The locking mechanism is just a lever next to the handle. (not a keyed lock). Has anyone come up with a way of doing this? Any ideas?

craigfis: Welcome to the forum. What type of notification are you looking for? Do you have a security or automation system in place now that you want to implement this with?

Can you add a microswitch to the lever mechanism, or attach a magnet?  Then you can use a DS10A to monitor the lock status as long as you have AHP and the OnAlert plug-in.

Oh sure that would be one way! Why not add a microswitch to the lever mechanism... attached to the frame via a magnetic reed switch... then wired to powerflash unit (PF284). Using AHP (and CM15A) along with third party software BVC a user can get a Voice announcement/reminder. I have done this with my garage door reminder Macro  The reminder reminds me every ten minutes till I close the garage door.

You can see this on my YouTube X10 - BVC Video. (I also have a little LED light that comes on)

There are so many options and methods I really have to repeat Pucks request  "What type of notification are you looking for?"
