The past couple of days I have been experiencing a very slow loading of the main page of the forum. All other topic pages (etc.) load instantly; it is just the main page that is slow and when it does come up it shows the "done with errors" message in IE.

I am experiencing this on 2 PCs at home (cable modem, Win2K) and my work PC (T1, XP). I just timed my T1 work connection and it takes 130 seconds to load the page. This is brutal since it has to do it twice just for me to log in.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Puck, same for me and has been for a few days, I shortcut by searching right away any word and that works ok. Also noticed that the chat room when showing people are chatting and upon loading it gives an error and there is no one there.

p.s.s. or p.p.s. as of 12.52 pm. EST the site was back to loading slow again like before. I promise NOT to update this again.

Working fine here as of 1:04 PM EST. Took less than 2 sec. to load.

We need to get rid of the Chat Room, as no chats have been held for at least four years.  www.everywherechat.com takes forever to load, in fact it loads twice, once when the Forums load, and again when you log in.  That's apparently why everything else is so slow to load.

Same here.... I am also having some other problems... so I wasn't completely sure how slow the main forum page was. Often I would just click to check post... and by-pass the "front Page".

I timed from when I clicked on the log in tab. After 60 seconds I got a page error in IE and the page never finished loading.
We seem to be broken big time.
Any X10 employees fixing this?

OK did a test with Firefox. I get in instantly with little or no delays. Try IE again and nothing but delays.

Just tried the main [forum] Page, twice. It did load today (an improvement)... but the Page reported errors.

Seems to be varied. A few times it loaded fairly fast and other times it was dead slow today.

Same here.  Fine this AM, slow right now.  I still thing the problem lies in www.everywherechat.com as it is very slow to load and loads before everything else.  I suspect a lot of sites with chat rooms use it and the server gets overloaded.   That's why I posted earlier in this thread to get rid of the Chat Room.   Nobody is using it any more, the suits at X10 certainly don't any more.

You lost me there with that one Dan. I skimmed through the source code.... and I didn't spot a reference to everywherechat.

It's there.   http://www.everywherechat.com/  is the software for the Chat Room, which, as I said, has not been used for several (3 or 4) years.

Today is the first day the forum's main page opens instantly for me without any IE errors. The last 2 days it was fast one time then back to slow the next, but always did so with errors. Hope it stays this way for awhile.

Now it's time to get rid of the chat room, as it is now a generic chat room, not an X10 one.  it now serves no purpose, it's just a general chat room.
