VA12A + Vista = Washout
« on: December 31, 2008, 12:05:56 PM »

Hooked the Va12A to my Vista install of AHP3.228 because Laptop running XP is USB 1.0 and VA12A requires USB 2.0.

All cameras are way to bright - washed-out and image is blooming about every 2 seconds.  (Adjusting to almost "0" brightness makes them visible)

Any ideas?

I just got my VA12A, hooked it up and the same thing happened to me.  All the video is washed out and "blooms" every couple of seconds.

Take a look at this forum topic http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=12405.0

The solution, for me, was to replace my old VR31A 2.4 GHz Wireless Audio/Video Receiver with a new VR42A 2.4 GHz Wireless Audio/Video Receiver.  Although my environment is a little different.  I'm using VA11A and XP.

Thanks, Don  #:)

I just ordered the V42A and will see if that solves the problem.

Saw that thread earlier today and was hoping not to have to add another piece of gear. Kind of concerned that when the system doesn't work, you have to buy another piece...  >*<

I got the same thing with Windows 7 and the VA12A ... white out for video in AHP using the older version 3.228 but can see video with the newer version 3.236

In January, I posted:

Opinions and observances:

Video via my VA12A is 250% better, clearer, faster, smoother, and sharper than with my VA11A

VA12A only works when connected to a high-speed USB 2.0 port.  And it needs most of the bandwidth.

VA12A works ONLY with 3.236.  Video with 3.204 & 3.228 blooms and washes out to white.

AHP 3.204, 3.228, and 3.236 and the VA12A and CM15A work with Windows-7 {32bit}

The catch is that On-Alert has "issues" with 3.236 (the KR10A's signals are mis-interpreted)

Therefor, I bought a $5 PC (yard sale - $5 no kidding!) to run XP, its own AHP (3.236) & CM15A, VA12A, and all video operations (8 cameras).  Separate DELL XPS running another AHP (3.228) & CM15A, Win7, for home automation.

Everything works just fine.
