VA12A - 3.236 - Windows-7
« on: January 11, 2009, 06:15:52 AM »

Opinions and observances:

My video via my VA12A is 250% better, clearer, faster, smoother, and sharper than with my VA11A

My VA12A only works when connected to a high-speed USB 2.0 port.  My laptop is 1.0.

MY VA12A works ONLY with 3.236.  Video with 3.204 & 3.228 blooms and washes out to white.

AHP 3.204, 3.228, and 3.236 and the VA12A and CM15A work with Windows-7 {beta}

I have been a Technical beta tester for Microsoft for about 13 years - my BetaId is below 170000.  I got it from the beta participant's Connect website.

I can back up that results with the VA12A, I did the same test. Also had the same problem until found out about the USB 2.0 vs 1.0. drove me crazy until I noticed the difference. Don't have the Windows 7 beta, would love to try it, good to hear thou that all VA**  is working with it. There is hope then.

But the issue is still with the OnAlert and the KR10A remote in V3.236. AHP is recognising them differently in Activity monitor. One note, when you configure a new remote, Unchecked the area where is says "is this unit part of a security unit" or some thing like that. When you unchecked it, in the Activity monitor the functions of the KR10A shows up correctly, But it still does not trigger Macros or able to disarm OnAlert.

Yep - and the OnAlert issue is why I've rolled back to 3.228.

I was reading that Microsoft has opened up their beta testing to the public. You can download it at :
https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=10&ct=1231942689&rver=5.0.3265.0&wp=MCMBI&wreply=https:%2F%2Fprofile.microsoft.com%2FRegSysProfileCenter%2Fwizard.aspx%3Fwizid%3D8f8238be-fba5-47aa-bf50-487d70165405%26lcid%3D1033&lc=1033&cb=LCID%3D1033%26WizID%3D8f8238be-fba5-47aa-bf50-487d70165405%26brand%3DWindows&id=74335

Just remember their warning when trying the BETA ....... Its only for

those who are comfortable backing up a computer, formatting a hard drive, installing an operating system, and troubleshooting their own technical problems. Don’t install the Beta on your primary home or work computer.

Jsnlong   thanks for the link!
I'll dig out a spare PC and start to play!
It sure will help find future issues for AHP as well as the thirdparty software like PC Companion & BVC before the masses find them!

Hey jammie guy (or Bitman),

Is Windoz 7 REALLY any better than Vista bloat?

It seems like everytime there are significant gains in hardware speed (i.e dual and quad processors) Microsoft bloatware completely negates and sucks up any user hoped for, or anticipated speed increase when buying a new computer. Speed wise, I don't see much difference between my quad processor running Vista and a five year old single core AMD running XP.  :-[

This is so true!
However I think this time arround the adds can make you forget that fact!
Homeautomation runs smooth on it as do the addon programs for AHP I've tested!
Voice recognition is awesome even without BVC, however adding BVC fills the void nicely!
Vista is the moden M.E. seems it always takes Microsoft a version to get it right! ::) :'  >*<

Does anyone know if VA12 works with Vista 64bit?  (Windows 7 beta is no longer available anywhere for torrent sites).  Thank you.

Thank you very much for coming back and posting your positive results!   #:)

I think you may be one of the first to actually try this and so no one knew what to tell you.

Very good to know, and a "helpful" from me!
