200bux for equipment that dont work?
« on: March 09, 2009, 12:59:52 AM »

Hello,

I have recently purchased a full system 16 piece.

2 3pin appliance modules do not even have power going through them

And I can only get 1 of 3 of the 3pin applinace modules to work at one time.

My home is wired single phase with a friggin fuse box small home.
My home does contain surge strips and I have tried unplugging them to no avail.

I dont see where the issue would be instead of Ethernet over power or whatever why do you guys just not use wireless complete and total wireless to trigger the on off states it would solve a lot of consumer problems I believe have the customer pick a key and program all the wireless devices with this key to prevent nearby homes from responding...

This has been a whole weekend headache it should not be this difficult you should truely advertise these problems with your solution and educate people before they purchase so they do not feel scammed like I do!

I am purchasing some AGC units and if they do not solve the problem I will be demanding a full refund.

PS how do I get replacements for the nonfunctional 3pin appliance modules?

Are you sure it isn't Split Single Phase. With 120 volts from either Line to Neutral and 220 volts from line to line?

You can call Customer Service and request a replacement. I believe the Customer Service page of the main X10 web Page also has a form you can fill out and submit.

Side note. We are mostly volunteers here and to not Officially represent X10. Though there are X10 employees seen here from time to time.

If you would truly like some help resolving these problems give me a call at 740-862-2616...... I would be glad to help you understand the basics of working with X10 products.

Bob I think it is great that you offer so much of yourself and your time in an effort to help others. I can remember when I first started using X10... I remember the frustrations I felt trying to figure out the technology. Sometimes I read the forums for hours on end... and into the early morning hours.

Your offers to "call me" are awesome... maybe even noble and I am sure well intended. But I wonder.. how will your offers help future newbies.. searching for answers to the same problems. These forum postings could remain here as a searchable knowledge base for DECADES.

I know the Community Forum Format isn't perfect. Nether are customer service calls, or manuals, or individuals write-ups about a system or process. But the Community Forum... it's format, and processes, and sometimes seemingly endless postings of the same problems.... has true value.

The two types of postings that can cause me irritation are when someone merely tells a newbie to "do a search". The other is when after some postings and suggestions... the Original Poster never posts the results.

I think... It can be a little unfair... both to future newbies with similar problems as well as regular contributor's to [and followers of] the forum... to take a problem "offline".
