When I connect my CM15A to my PC, AHP does not see it as being connected, so I cannot update the timers.  HOWEVER, when manually changing switches on AHP, the lights will go on or off, as directed!  I have tried pulling batteries and "rebooting" the CM15A...Any suggestions?

Hello,

I have experienced the same problem. I unplugged it from the wall, took the batteries out and left them out for about 5 minutes allowing draining any residual voltage. While I was waiting I took a small pair of needle nose pliers and gently pulled/stretched, those crummy springs they dare to refer to as contacts for the batteries, the positives especially as the positive terminal as the battery makes very poor contact on those flattened out springs. Then I snugly replaced the batteries, at which time windows informed me it found a new device and loaded drivers for it. Plugged the CM15A back into the wall, started up AHP went to tools preferences reset the battery button, it went from 0 to 48.0. All has been well since!

Hope this works for you as well!

tried the above...still no luck...AHP thinks interface time is 1/1/1601 !  When I try to download timers and macros..it accepts that command, but the downloading icon in the lower left of the screen stays on permantently...Possibly the unit is dead..

Check all the cables and connections. Try a new usb cable as well as an alternate usb outlet on the computer.

tried a new USB cable...and new batteries ... and on a different PC ...same problem!

Go up to the tools menu and select clear interface. Do this several times. Now download macros and timers. You may also want to check for updated drivers from X10's website.

Till Later,

Tried that ...but didn't work either.  Previously, I used to get a horizontal bar showing the clear interface progress, which took about 30 seconds.  Now all I get is a small icon in the lower left of my screen that when I hold the mouse over the icon, it says "downloading"  and it says that forever.  I believe my driver is dated from 2005...has X10 actually released a newer driver for the CM15A?

Here we go!!!!

our fault for not asking more.

What Version of AHP do you have?

I will check version from home tonight...Is there a spot to download previous versions of AHP?  Come to think of it, I think I had to re-download and install  (likely the newest version) of the software in Dec 2008, and a couple days ago may have been the first time I connected it up to my CM15a, which I have been using since initial release in late 2004(?)...though I think my unit was replaced in 2005.

There certainly is:  http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/   Every version of AHP is there along with a lot of files for X10 products.

Beware, 3.236 is a buggy version and should be avoided.  Best earlier version is 3.204, from that you can upgrade through the link in AHP to 3.228, the last good release.
I don't SELL this stuff... BUT I sure do ENJOY using it!!!

I was on 3.236 and returned to 3.228 and all was fine!  Thanks for all your help, but I am not real happy with X10 programers, as the problem was with both my PCs...

Now I have to make sure the X10nets problem doesnt re-occur...but that solution was posted somewhere on this forum...

My CM15A repeatedly stops working. Also then get "device not recognized".  I have followed suggestions (i.e. disconnecting batteries, improving battery contacts, plugging in with no batteries).  Often, when I reconnect after that, the computer doesn't react at all to the plugged in CM15A.  I would like to go from 3.236 (which readers report is buggy) down to 3.204 and then go up to 3.228, but, when I go to http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/  I can't figure out which takes me to 3.204.  Also, when I find the correct .exe file, do I just run it on my computer?  This is the 4th time my CM15A has stopped working.

When you go to the X10 Software Repository at http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/  look for AHP 3.204 an get it, then run it over 3. 236 (the buggy version).  Open AHP and use the upgrade link in AHP to upgrade to 3.228, the last good release of AHP.

I'm was having the same exact issue. I downloaded 3.204 and it installed over the 3.236 fine but when I try to upgrade to 3.228 I get the prompt to upgrade now. I click on it and say OK. It closes but the program but nothing else happens. When I open it up it's still on 3.204. ???
It seems more stable but if 3.228 is better is there any other way to get it?

I had the same issue too. What I did was run "ahp_updt.exe" (first item on the list of apps at the above link) on top of 3.204. This, for whatever reason, resets 3.204 and the upgrade works. I believe there's something in the registry that gets corrupted somehow, but this "ahp_updt.exe" resets it.

Try it and see what happens.
