firecracker cm17a software issues
« on: April 09, 2009, 09:29:41 PM »

I have a laptop with XP that I would like to control some lights. I only need the firecracker serial port function, the CM11 is on another machine. The software is a joke, it has a pretty interface but after 5 or so button presses it LOCKS UP!!!! You can't do anything else with it unless you kill it in task manager and restart, only to clam up again. I tried it on another machine, same story. I tried what I believe is 2 different versions of the software, but I still have the issue. Any ideas?

What versions of AHP have you used and are using?
Did you install the fireckacker drivers separately or as part of the AHP install?
When exactly does it lock up?
When it locks up, can you bring up "task manager" to see how much of the processor is using?
Can you run the software OK w/out the firecracker plugged in?
Have you checked for any COM port conflicts? Do these machines have built-in modems? other serial devices attached?
How much memory does your laptop have?
Lastly, what version of XP are you using?

I know, lots of questions, but might as well get all this up front to get an idea of what might be going on..
