HELP
« on: May 24, 2009, 04:34:01 PM »

I bought the sentinel the camera is great. I have it connect to my PC running Vanguard   I am thinking that this camera does not work with Vanguard software not sure what version of the software

1 Unable to use the zoom, tilt and pan in vanguard
2. Remote will not work unless I have the remote VERY close to the camera’s antenna
3. I am unable to access the Sentinel menu with the remote that is why I am thinking that the vanguard will not work with the Sentinel.
4. I was able to flip the picture with the remote seem like I have some functionality.

Thanks

I am not sure... but I think your partly right. Some Sentinel functions may require the remote (like the menu). But other problems with controlling the camera with the CM15A... could be from the CM15A's limited RF range.

I recently decided to control a Ninja using Voice Commands. This involved [for me] a RF range problem... as my CM15A is in my basement and my Ninja was in the backyard. I had Modified the receiving antenna of my CM15A some time ago... but the problem was the limited range of the INTERNAL sending antenna.

The [CM15A's] internal antenna may vary based on when(?) it was made. Mine was hot glued in a couple places as it circled the inside of the CM15As plastic box. I merely pried the antenna wire loose and hung the wire outside the interface box.

Sorry George... looks like I may have miss read your post. I would assume... you've tried new batteries in the remote.

Dave,
yes had changed the batties in the remote. I think it is the remote itself, also  I am unable to work the camera in Vanguard. like i said i can operate my Ninja. I be giving X10 a call I think it may be the remote. I would like to thank you very much for responding to the post

(As you pointed out) If you can operate the Ninja with Vanguard.... but not the Sentinel... and the remote [even with new replacement batteries] fails to have any range with the sentinel.... it would be my guess the range problem would be with the Sentinel.

Is the Sentinel mounted.... say on metal siding. Or shielded from the CM15A [and remote] by metal lath in plaster walls or something?

I did not mount the camera yet since I just got on Friday. I have it  sitting on my dresser about 5 feet from PC.
