Other than gaining another condition, is there an advantage (or disadvantage) to using timers versus putting the time into the condition of a macro?

Hello jfaska,

Macro's require a trigger (X10 ON/OFF event) to run.  They cannot be initiated based on time alone.  You can qualify a macro with a timeframe to restrict it's running.

So unlike the older non pro software I can't create a macro that is started at a specific date/time?

If that's so then I guess that's a reason for the ghost modules, to kick off the macro.

But then what to the timer events for the macro do?

My apologies, I misunderstood the question.

You can place a timer event on a macro.  The timer "forces" the trigger.  In other words, if you have a macro that triggers on A1 ON, putting a timer on the macro will force the A1 ON at the specified time.

It's really no different than a standalone timer firing A1 ON, just a different way of bookkeeping things.
