Excellent, thank you ... that'll come in handy when I can get back to that screen
Here's what I've got:
Xp Pro SP3 machine ... I used the link that they sent me (from my request, see above) to install the software ... it told me it was installing iWatchOut, not AHP, which initially confused me but in the end I did have files in C:\Program Files\ActiveHome Pro and in C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10 ... however, there is no entry in the Start Menu or icon on the desktop, and there is no entry in the add/remove programs screen ... it appeared that the software tried to start automatically but showed a small window with "Error Getting X10Net Interface" and then crashed with a sig of AppName: activehm.exe AppVer: 3.0.0.236 ModName: ahp.dll ModVer: 3.0.0.236 Offset: 0015a7d7
If I double-click ActiveHm.exe the machine pauses and returns the same error, then crashes again ...
So I blasted all of those files, rebooted into safe mode and tried again ... same result ... I can see that others have gotten this message in the past, but have not found any answers ... I have a couple of other old systems (both XP Home, one is my eBay PC down in the basement and the other is an old laptop) that I might try ...
I saw a remark by one of the helpful forum folks in response to a posting by a programmer who was bashing X-10, saying that X-10 wasn't designed for pros, but rather for hobbyists and such ... but my initial experiences would not lead me to believe that remark ... I've purchased a lot of downloaded software, including low-end and bargain-basement shareware and such, and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had ... guess I had my expectations too high ...
Any tips would be welcome ... thanks
