x-10 sensors with visonic powermax
« on: September 25, 2009, 10:44:16 PM »

I am wanting to get a system that can be monitored and it doesnt look like the x-10 can. So i was hoping to use the visonic powermax and nextalarm.com. However the extra door/window and motion sensors are crazy expensive. The powermax plus says something about working with h-10 devices. So can I buy the less expensive x-10 sensors and use with the visonic system or a different monitored system? Anyway to get the visonic system monitored for cheap?

The Visonic Powermax operates at a different RF frequency than X10 RF, so the X10 door/window and motion sensors won't work with it.
The Powermax Plus has an X10 powerline interface which can control X10 modules, that's all.

X10 sells (or did sell) a security system DC8700/DC8700P which can connect to a monitoring service (ORCA).

Call the number listed for ORCA to find out what they charge.

Note added:
Here's the contract: http://www.orcaweb.com/contracts/dc8700.pdf

Yesterday it worked.
Today it doesn't work.
X10 on Windows is like that.
