Need a CM11A
« on: October 25, 2009, 06:39:03 PM »

I have an existing X10 system, but recently moved to a new house.  The movers packed my stuff and I cannot find my CM11a interface.  I need to purchase a new one and have learned that X10 no longer makes them.

Is it possible that anyone would have a spare they no longer use?  If so, I would be happy to purchase it from you if the cost is not exorbitant as well as pay the shipping to me.

If you have one you wish to part with, email me at john@johnghormley.com.

I hope this message is not outside the proper protocol for this board.  If so, my apologies to all.

Thanks,

John

I will look into upgrading my interface.  However, I'm running misterhouse on Linux and the upgrade is a bit more involved  (I think) and what I want ASAP is to get the new house as automated as I can, as quickly as I can.  I believe the fastest way to do that is with the CM11a that's already setup.  Actually, I'm new to misterhouse as I gave up on Windoze entirely around the first of 2009.  Everything I have running right now is Linux (generally Ubuntu) having gotten away from a version 1 installation of HomeSeer on Windoze.

Brian, thanks for that link.  I bought one there.  Was cheap as the one I was bidding for on eBay.  It's  on the way.

AWESOME! I have the CM15A I can not get to work under Linux... the USB driver does not compile under Kernel 2.6.31 (Yes I know it is very new). I had previously used CM11A and it worked great but when I went on eBay to find one all I found were the $80 stuff. I believe as recent as 2007 X10.com was selling the CM11A or RCA HC60RX for about $20-25.

I think
.. in 2007 they were clearing them at 10 bucks each.

Yes I may still have an HC60RX from one of the clearance sales.

I still have my CM11A. Although I think I paid full price. I got mine when still new to X10 and building my Home Theater. And to be honest never got much use out of it.

Then in 2006 I came to the forum looking for new [more] ideas on how to use X10. When I found BVC (BXVC back then) I was more concerned about trying to use the CM15A & AHP than I was about Bill's Software.

That is when I finally got serious and mapped my circuits and resolved my phase issue (with a simple dryer plug phase coupler). That is when X10 really got fun... wish I'd done that with the CM11A.

Now.... I have two spare CM15A's. I am thinking I may put one of the spares in service to pick up 16 more monitored units on another house code.... as well as 16 more flags.
