I have the call forwarding feature on my home phone. It's a great feature... forward phone calls to my cell phone just before I leave the house. Hard part is remembering to forward the calls. I seem to have Interstate memory for call forwarding. I remember.. I should have forwarded the calls... about the time I get on the Interstate Highway.

I was thinking... call forwarding would be a great function for Occupancy Sensing. If no one is home.... forward the calls to the cell phone.

The feature works by dialing a number, then waiting while the line beeps several times. Then I get a dial tone again, and I dial the number I want my calls forwarded to. I wait while the [forwarded] number is called and answered... then hang up both phones.

Is there a dialer out there that can perform this function? Or maybe a [computer] program?

I remember back in the old days when calling cards became the affordable way to call long distance. Back then we would enter the 1-800 number that needed to be called in the speed dial #1, and the 9 digit card number code in #2. It saved looking at the numbers on the card and fiddling around. I guess I could hack a phone that has speed dial... with 3 Universal modules.. and write a macro that guesses the time needed between this-and-that. I could... but I am NOT going to.... it just sounds too complex to be reliable.

Have you looked at alert dialer?

I use it to call my cel when I have left the garage open.

If it supports commas for pauses, something like:

*72,,,,,,123-4567  might work.

(Here) *72 is a call forward prefix.

I downloaded the standard free version. And would gladly pay the tiny little fee Tuicemen is asking for the full version. But is there a set of directions some where? How do I learn how to use it. Could You be convinced to creating a set of direction since Tuicemen hasn't had much time since he retired.

 Dial button: Dials the trusted numbers from top down
 
Trusted Numbers:  This is where you type the numbers you wish to dial
 *Note: you must type in trusted number exactly the way it appears in call Id
  string in order for auto call back to work!*
 
Completion Window: Shows the status of that number after a dial button push
 
Save #s: saves trusted numbers

 
Event Configuration window: This has the options for when a call is connected

Audio Output: This displays the device which Alertdialerplus uses to play TTS

Speak Button: Speaks TTS using the displayed voice

Voice: Shows the voice used for text to speech engine

Format: This is the wave formate used for TTS the default is good for most modems

Sound for Out Going Calls: displays if tts or a wav file is configured to respondto outgoing calls

Sound for Incomming Calls:  displays if tts or a wav file is configured to respond to incomming calls

X10 Codes: Here you set your HouseCodes and Transmition Modes

Shortcuts : allows you to open program via there short cut placed in the shortcut folder

Test buttons test your x10\shortcut settings

Save All Settings : saves all info except Trusted numbers

 
Incoming Information: This is mostly for Caller Id
 
Name: Shows name of caller from callId string recieved from phone company
 if you have Trusted number typed exacly as displayed in Number box it will show
 "Trusted Number"
 
Number:Show the Incoming call number as reported by phone company If it matches 
 any Trusted Number EXACTLY AlertDialer will answer.
 
Time: Displays time call recieved
 
Recieved Digits: Displays digits recieved during call  and auto clears its self
 
Use TTS for Caller Name: Check this if you wish AlertDialerPlus to Speak name of Caller
 
Id Name displayed in Name Box, Uses same  voice you specified in Voice box.

 
Call Status Box: Shows status of your modem (waiting for call,dialing....)
 
Last X10 Trans: Shows last device activated via your interface (CM15A)

I may not be smart enough to use it. How would I get alert dialer to do this:

1. Dial star (*) 72, listen for three short beeps and then a dial tone, enter the 7- or 10-digit number (dialing “1” first whenever it applies) where you want
calls to be forwarded and wait for the confirmation tone.
2. After the confirmation tone, the system will automatically place a courtesy call to the forward-to number. If the forward-to party answers the
courtesy call, the feature is activated.
3. If the forward-to line is busy or there is no answer to the courtesy call, the feature is not activated. You can still activate Call Forwarding by repeating
the activation procedure within two minutes of the first attempt.
4. You will hear an error message if the forward-to number is invalid. Calls will continue to forward to the chosen number until deactivated.
5. If you have Voice Mail, calls that would normally transfer into Voice Mail will continue to go to the forward-to number, thereby bypassing Voice Mail

I never added call forwarding to AlertDialer mostly because I didn't need it or have it!
I hate to add code for something if I can't test it myself!
I'll see if I can find a sample program for you to test Dave.
If it works then I'll see if I can intergrate the code to AlertDialer!

You may want to look into Google Voice.  It will call all numbers it's configured for.  It has a lot of features including transcription.  And it's free.

I heard/read somewhere... that I can add delays in AlertDialer using commas,,,. I just need directions on, which version I need, and... how do I set this up. Is it triggered via an X10 H/U code ON... and hung-up with an OFF? So much to learn.

I believe there is a little more to it then just adding the delays. but either version is capable of that if my memory is correct!
The tapi tool I used to create AlertDialer had a sample file for call forwarding if I remember  (not sure if I have a copy some where )
AlertDialer is limited by your modem so test the free version with your modem to see if it will even dial or answer!
