Is it possible to toggle a light module on/off with a certain hotkey or perhaps when a certain program opens?

No.  It can be triggered either by pressing the button on the switch or by an X10 powerline signal sent to it if it's a wall switch module. As to the plug-in modules, only an X10 powerline signal sent to it will turn the light on .

It is possible if you are willing to work and maybe write some code.

It used to be, that with the old AH (not pro) one could open a dos window and usher on/off commands via dos commands. I do not know if this is still possible with AHP.

Then by using a windows macro program you could tie a key combo to a batch file that pops off the desired dos command to do your bidding.

Then, by writing some visual basic program to look for a window title you could then call that same batch file, thereby having the desired action happen when that program was launched.

BTW if I recall correctly, we could make calls to the x10nets.exe or something.

Google x10 dos commends and that should get you started. You will need a CM15 or CM11a and AHP or AH to do anything anyway.

if you state which controler you are or wish to use I or some one else here could steer you in the right direction.
I and several users here have created programs that will do what you want using the Cm15a (ActiveHome Pro).
If you wish to do this your self you'll need the AHP SDK!

You can still do that in XP, but not in Vista.  AHP comes with a DOS/System Prompt component called ahcmd.exe which can be run from a DOS or System Prompt with commands like "ahpmd sendplc L5 on" then hit the enter key.  The module L5 will turn on.

You could write a batch file to open your program and insert the ahcmd in the batch file.
