Macro problems with a CM15A after upgrading to Windows 7
« on: December 23, 2009, 12:05:35 PM »

I have been running the X10 modules and software since 2001, But I have never had problems like these. I am controlling lighting and different equipment on a 200 gallon Reef tank. I have timers and a have a set of smart macros set up to turn the lights on and off. The timers and macros track how long the day is during the year. These macros were a pain in the but to figure out and get running, but they have been running great since 2002, and have made the transition across many different windows softwares.

When I upgraded to Windows 7 AHP would not run, I had to downgrade the AHP software to ver. 3.204 and do the workaround that is listed in these forums to get it to run.

Now, here is my current problem.

I have about 15 modules working on my fishtank. Any timers I have in my software will run fine. But, the Macros that are set to use the timer modules as triggers do not work. I can work the modules by remote. I can work the modules by using the on/off controls on the AHP software. I have watched the timers and macros trigger at their scheduled time for that day. The Macro boxes will flash showing they are running, but they only show as running for about 5-10 seconds. Plus they will not turn the modules on or off.

This same timer/macros program ran fine under windos 98/millenium/xp...all services packs / windows vista . but I have been fighting this for over a month looking for solutions.

HELP !!

After you went to 3.204  Did you then let it update to 3.228 as most did?

If I let AHP update to 3.228, AHP would not start, so I went back to the 3.204 which works.......kinda

I'm willing to try it again , if you think it will help.

Any Idea how to get there ?

upgrading to ver 3.228 gets me back in the x10nets.exe running 100% of my CPU again and AHP will not run.  I just upgraded again to see.

I'll stay at this non-running state until I get some ideas on how to get to where you want me at on versions.

I have 3.228 installed and AHP will not run at this point.

I ran into the same issue. 3.228 was crashing on my Win7 64-bit machine.
Installing 2.326 (which, surprisingly, NEVER gave me any of the problems mentioned here when I was running it on XP since it was released) fixed the issue.

Separately, I'm still annoyed that the VA11A is not Win7 compatible. Since I really wasn't using the video portions, I don't feel it is worth another $50 just for a VA12A.
