It's 3.236!!  IT'S BUGGY!!!!!!!   Go to http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/  and look for ahp_updt_204.exe.  Save that and install it over what you have, it will not affect any .ahx files you have.   Once it is installed, open AHP and use the Update link under Help to update it to version 3.228, the last good release of AHP.

Good luck!!!

 B:(

Thanks for the quick reply. Downloaded and installed. Much improved :) ...only took 20 seconds to crash, similar error messages.
Should I do a clean install (try to remove all old X10 remnants as best I can)?

I tried to quickly update and when I start, the application just disappears.

HELP B:(

Sounds like a corrupt first install of AHP or a corrupt .ahx file.  For the corrupt .ahx file, try opening MyHouse.ahx dated 11/10/2004), one of the two files AHP installs itself.  If that works (no crash) it was the .ahx file you were using. If it still crashes, you will have to completely uninstall AHP and delete both the ActiveHome Pro folder under Program Files and the X10 folder in Program Files/Common files. That's the "Atomic Bomb" of curing AHP problems.  Back up any .ahx file you created before you do this.  Then use the 3.204 you downloaded to reinstall AHP and update to 3.228.

Hi Dan,
Thanks.

Did the clean uninstall and searched/deleted ANYTHING related to AHP or X10.

Was able to load updt_204, then download via the update link to .228. When I went to the Tools>Hardware Config, it crashed. Same error window as before.

I did not install/register the other plugins AVX, ANT Smartmacro or OnAlert either.

Any additional guidance is appreciated.

When I went to the Tools>Hardware Config, it crashed.

This happens to me in both .228 and .236.  I dare not do this knowing it'll crash AHP.

1. Try creating a NEW ahx file with only one module.   Shut AHP down & reboot.   Open AHP (the new file should open) and try the Hardware/Config.  If it works, MERGE in your ahx file.

2. Run AHP "As Administrator"

3. Make sure you have FULL privileges in all AHP program folders.

4. Create a new folder under "My Docs" and store (SAVE) your AHX file there.

I apologize for not remembering the specific fix - I had this problem a while back.  I remember that uninstalling AHP doesn't remove everyting, I think there's specific instructions in the Wiki, or on this board.

To swittie and eagle:  Both of you have something weird going on.  I run AHP 3.228 and my Hardware/Config runs fine.  I would try PajamaGuy's suggestion, can't hurt.  If it still bombs out, then both of you have some software program that clashes with AHP of something else crazy.
