x10 Canadian Warehouse closed?
« on: January 05, 2010, 09:02:29 AM »

There used to be a Canadian x10 Warehouse in Mississauga, Ontario. I called x10 to place an order and they said it has been closed down???? Is this true, and if so, what the hey happened? This is a real bummer!! :'(

Possibly consolidation to save money. Could be a bad sign.

It's impossible to guess.

Warehousing has always been a large and wasteful expense. A warehouse in Canada... storing Chinese made merchantice.. sounds (to me) like throwing money into the wind.

Current conditions has China sitting on a huge surplus of manufacturing capabilities. This would be an excellent time NOT to warehouse... OR to negotiate for new upgrades and/or devices to the X10 line. But where would X10 get the front money? Since purchasing of [Chinese] products are down... China doesn't have the money to buy U.S. Securities (notes). The U.S. Government has been giving banks money (at 0 % interest) only to borrow it back by forcing banks to buy U.S. securities (at 3.75%). This has made banks (appear) profitable.... but has sucked every Penny out of the market place.

....... Could be a bad sign.

I think it is a bad sign.... but not necessarily for X10.

With many Chinese places offering free shipping, I suspect it won't be long till all our stuff gets shipped directly from there!

Brian H,

My last batch of Wacky Lamp Modules came from the NJ warehouse.  Shipped FedEx to Grove City, Ohio (approx. 80 miles to my north)  took 48 hours to get to Grove City.

Grove City then dropped it into the USPS system and it took a week to get the last 80 miles.

My last package also hung around in Grove City for some time. Grove City must be a nice place to visit... if you have lots of free time.

Yes, bad for shipping the product to the consumer in a timely manner and,  I wonder what happened to the people who worked there?

I'm pretty sure he is. There are Canadian flags on his site if I recall correctly.

Good guy too btw.

My first order is coming from NJ. It has taken 7 business days so far and it has now been transferred from FedEx truck to the mail system for delivery!  The estimate is for delivery in 3-5 more business days.  There may not be a second order.

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes. My order is apparently coming from NJ, and Canada Post can only confirm an electronic submission at this point, but nothing else.

Geez, the Canadian dollar will probably be at par by the time I get my order. (I knew I shoulda waited!)

But Tuicemen, speaking of Canadian, shouldn't those little M&M's have a maple leaf on them somewhere? (I'm just kidding). Where abouts geographically do you live, Tuicemen? East, West, etc?
