DIM repeating using AHP
« on: January 15, 2010, 12:01:30 AM »

Hey all.  I lost my computer and am in the process of rebuilding.  In doing so, I had the backup macros for my AHP, and all seems to be running fine EXCEPT that since my rebuilding the box, my DIM command is not working.  When my macros turn the lights on, they do not dim to my specified 65%.  Instead, they stay on 100%.  When I try to dim them using AHP, they then repeat and almost always DIM around twice as much as they should.  I am running a coupler on a 220-line.  But seriously, did not have this problem before I rebuilt the box.
Can somebody offer up a suggestion or a post that can help make a recomendation about the "configuration" item I may need to re-establish.  If I'd done it before, I sure can't find it now.  Thanks much in advance for your help.

Did you check the resume dim settings on the modules and switches. Try ressetting to 100 percent. and rerun program.

I checked the "Issue on in place of 'Bright 100%' box, but don't see anywhere else that I can check for the 'dim settings' option you described.  Can you direct me to where those settings are?  Thanks much.

I've tried a number of things, but my DIM still is not working.  Tonight the front lights didn't come on at all.  Searched the posts and found nothing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks much in advance.

Some additional info.

Log shows the following:
Transmit I4 (Front Soffit Can Lights)
Transmit I On (Front Soffit Can Lights)
Transmit I Dim 30% (Front Soffit Can Lights)
Receive I Dim 31% (Front Soffit Can Lights)
--> At this point light dims to 39% instead of the desired 70%
Transmit I Bright 31% (Front Soffit Can Lights)
--> At this point light brightens to desired 70%

Are the switches or lamp modules soft start?
Is the coupler you mentioned. Passive or a repeater? If a repeater whet model.

Thanks Brian.

The switches are X-10 WS467 models (for example:  http://www.x10.com/products/x10_ws467.htm).  And the coupler is actually a repeater---a SmartHome Signalinc 4826A.  The kind that plugs into my 220 line recep.  (for example: http://www.smarthome.com/4826A/SignaLinc-4-Pin-Plug-in-Coupler-Repeater/p.aspx)

FWIW, I guess I've been both fortunate and unfortunate in not having problems to-date.  Fortunate in that it's all worked plug-and-play, but unfortunate in that I've not learned much about the inner workings of it all.

P.S.  I'm open to suggestions on improvements, as well.

Thanks,

Are they soft start? Where the lights ramp up and down when turned on and off. Soft start modules act differently and AHP has to be fooled into thinking they are a different module.

Sorry Chuck,

That's been encountered previously, and is "normal" when using the CM15a with certain repeaters.

Please have a look at the following: Thread: Dimming and brightening commands from software.

And my family says my short term memory sucks - Ha!

Boiler jogged the memory.
We have seen some repeaters double the dim commands sent and some have in some situations caused a signal firestorm.
The Smarthome one and the Leviton HCA02 come to mind.
