What I think I should be able to do is:
1. connect TV cable company coax wire from wall to Sender X10 in room A
2. Transmit cable signal to Room B
3. Set up Receiver X10 in Room B to receive signal
4. Take signal from Receiver X10 and feed into TV digital cable box coax connection as if the wire came from wall
5. Leave my TV + DVD player/recorder + TV setup as is in Room B which has no cable outlet.

I am told by many people who sell cable or digital boxes that this can't be done.

Can anyone help?

They are correct.

The X10 video sender and receiver send the decoded video and sound from room to room.

Cable signals are not baseband video but a large range of RF frequencies.

Only trouble is that there is so much static and noise picked up that the TV sound is useless - even when the TX and RX antennas face each other and are only a few feet apart.

Allow me to expand a bit. If I'm correct...
The X10 Video sender can either handle composite video inputs (RCA jacks) or RF input.
The RF input, I believe, only allows for standard Channel 3 or 4. So the idea of connecting
the cable company's signal directly to the video sender unit likely will not work. You'd have to
take an output off the cable box and hook it up to the sender.
Then hook up the X10 receiver at the destination.
Somebody jump in if I've got it wrong please.

You may have some type of interference like a Wifi set up or 2.4GHz cordless phone.

But what richiller wants to do is a completely different animal, and not within the capabilities of the X10 video transmitter/receiver kit.

I don't think the SENDER has an RF input, only RCAs for Video and Audio input. I think only the Receiver has the RF output "F" connector, and that is just for channel 3/4 to the receiving TV if it does not have composite video/audio inputs.

Thanks for correcting me Dave. Didn't do the research before opening my trap.
It still looks like Ric will have to get the cable box in the room with the CATV outlet
and send from there. Probably not optimum but...
Or do what he's trying to avoid: get up in the attic and splice or reroute the cable to the desired room. Ouch!

You are right, assuming rchiller doesn't want the a new cable outlet connector, since the parasitic cable folk will want another 5 bucks per month, he can always route composite video to "room B" his only problem is room A and room B can't watch different channels. I guess he understands his cable box remote control will work in room B via the built-in IR link.

I don't have any experience with those devices so I'm takin' out the rear again.
My Dish Network remotes use RF to work the second half of the sat receiver from a different room and IR
for the primary half that's in-room...

The Video Sender/Receiver product has the function of the Pyramid built in. The receiver modulates received IR from the device remote control on a RF carrier and sends back up line the Video Sender. The Sender has a jack for an IR extender to be placed in front of the cable box, VCR, DVD, etc. Don't know if it actually ships with the Extender or if that is seperate.
