keyless entry deadbolt
« on: March 06, 2010, 09:17:39 AM »

I would like to see a keyless entry deadbolt that can be reprogrammed using activehome pro and can be activated remotely.    This would be great for those who have rentals and this would take away the mailing of the keys, etc  to the new renter, just program and give the code all from your home computer

This probably isn't what your looking for, but maybe you can get some ideas from it.  Until you find what you are looking for.  Saying that; I don't think I would trust x10 on any of my home locks.

I actually do that. I have an apartment renter upstairs that has access from his own entry way that has a electronic entry like you see on alot of larger apartment complexes so they can buzz guests in. I just added a universal Module UM506 and a nano remote and you can just buzz yourself in as well.
Thanks

This one is remote frequency but doesn't work for X10 without modification.

They do have extra remote available:  http://www.aartech.ca/rm01-morning-industry-keyfob.html

I've thought of doing this myself. Maybe even adding BlueTooth automation with a product like Tuicemens BlueWatch (I think Tuice is still working on that) so my cell phone could/would unlock the door. I know... other safety/security features would also need to be considered.

But I think particularly for my wife you often returns home with packages... not having to hassle with a key could be helpful.
