unresponsive powerlinc v2 2414u
« on: March 10, 2010, 01:01:17 PM »

I have a powerlinc v2 2414u that is seen by windows when plugged in, but when opening up Smarthome Device Manager, it reports unresponsive. At this point there is no warranty on it, and Smarthome said all I could try was a factory reset.

Does anyone have any experience with these that could help me get it working again?

Yes the 2414U PLC is the interface we early members got when we joined the Insteon SDK. New members now get a 2412U PLM

Do you have any programs like Ken Millers InHomeFre and SetSHPort? May make somethings easier to do but not needed as Ken has abandoned development on it and his web site is gone.

Is the LED on the module on or flashing all the time. If it is flashing the TimerCoreApp is corrupt.

In the SDM3  screen try typing DM
That opens a direct command area near the bottom of the SDM3 display. You can type in a command there and then click the send button.
Try getport in the direct commmand area and make sure it says port=USB4 as an answer.
If not type port=USB4
Then IsResponding.
If you type help it will give you all the legal commands for SDM3

Factory Reset is. Disconnect module from the AC power, for at least 30 seconds.
While holding the set button plug it back in.
Keep holding the Set Button for 30 seconds then release.

If getport said USB4. So we know SDM3 is using the USB port and the Factory Reset didn't do much. It may have failed.

You don't have any Direct X USB Input Devices like a gaming joystick do you. They are known to interfere with the 2414U.
