Noob X10 Questions and help.
« on: March 20, 2010, 07:52:34 AM »

Hello everyone;

I have had the bug to start automating my home for some time now, and have collected some X10 gear.

I have tried using it several times, however I always get hooked up on programming the modules.

Anyway, this is what I have.

Marmitek Easy Icon 10 RF Remote
Marmitek TWM4 Switch Module
Marmitek AW12 Appliance Module
Marmitek LW12 Lamp Module
Marmitek MS13E PIR
Marmitek CM15Pro USB Interface

I have the TWM4 behind a standard UK light switch (3 gang) in the kitchen.
I have the AW12 Appliance module wired into the Porch / Garden Floodlight.
I have the LW12 Lamp module wired into my garden lights.
I have the CM15Pro correctly connected to my PC

All the modules are set as default A1

When I switch the first switch on the bank in the kitchen the garden & porch lights switch on, they also switch off if you turn the switch off.

I want to set it so that;

switch 1 does the Porch / Floodlight
switch 2 does the Garden Lights
switch 3 does (whatever the next module I buy does etc)

I have read the manual(s) and have no idea how to program the modules A1, A2, A3 etc. I'm finding it really confusing.

Currently the AHP software allows me to turn on the A1 address lights but not off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Since we don't have the same modules you have here in the US; I can only go by the manuals; I found on Marmitek's web site.

Are you trying to use the CM15Pro; the Easy Icon 10 RF Remote; TWM4 Switch to send the programming sequences or are you tying to use the five rapid pushes of the local control switch to go into the programming mode?

I have used a local switch to put the LW12 into programming mode and got it to accept A2 now via the remote. The light works from the switch, but not the PC or the remote.

Since the CM15APro is being used to receive the RF from the remote. You may want to go into the Hardware Configuration Tab and see that House Code A is set to be transceived. Common problem here not sure if it carried over to your version of software.

No direct control from a computer command may indicate a power line noise or signal sucker problem. As a test. The LW12 module can be moved around the home to see if some outlets will allow control it. That would indicate a signal problem. I believe Marmitek has some information on signal problems.

Though your wiring is not the same as ours. There are some good troubleshooting tutorials that may give you some general ideas on what to look for. Items like split phase may not apply to your wiring.
