Thanks Brian for the info.  No help.  I don't believe the X10 installer software knows where to place the VA12A driver in Windows 7.  The Software Download Center only has (3.236 - Released Sept 05, 2008 - Windows XP, 2000) for X10 drivers.  So I am convinced this won't work ... there is no X10 driver for Windows 7.   B:(       Hoping to be proved wrong!!!!!!

if so.i need the software link again so i can put it on a new pc

Any windows software can be installed on Windows 7.

Right click on the install file before double clicking it, and click properties, compatibility tab. Select the proper OS, click OK.

NOW you can double click the install file.

Thanks Brandt ... but I had tried that before ... with no success.

Not sure about your comment ... "Any windows software can be installed on Windows 7."  The Device Manager for Windows 7 is quite different (in appearance and in content) than the Device Manager for Windows XP.  This is just an observance on my part.  I am by no means as expert but, if they are different in content I would think the X10 Driver Installer would have to recognize this difference.
