Remote Control
« on: May 03, 2010, 08:56:18 PM »

I have the 2-Way PC Interface, the IR/RF IconRemote, and the PowerMid.  Is there a way to use ActiveHome to send IR commands to the PowerMid directly (without using the remote)?

If that "2-Way PC Interface" happens to be a CM15A... the answer is YES. I use BVC and the USB-UIRT. Read more about it at Bill's Site.

I keep my Home Automation computer in my basement... so I use the powermid (like) devices to get the IR to where needed (like the upstairs TV).

By the way.... BVC (Bills Voice Commander) can do a LOT more than control IR via a PC and macros or commands.

LOL, in small print on the box, I see "Model CM15A" .. "ActiveHome Pro 2-Way PC Interface" is what is in XL super bold print though.  NOTE: the model of y PowerMid Transceiver is RE549.

OK, I'll try BVC but do I really need new hardware?  Can't CM15A communicate directly with RE549 via RF?

No the RE549 uses 418MHz to receive from the ST539 PowerMid Transmitter.
The CM15A uses the X10 RF frequency of 310MHz. Used by their RF remotes and other RF devices.
The only X10 RF remote I have seen that is dual RF is the Icon RF. It can send on both frequencies.

I know the use of model numbers on the forum can seem... a bit nerdy. And yes... many of us do know the numbers by heart. There are a bunch of different devices out there... and it does make a difference. I really think you'll enjoy BVC. The USB-UIRT can add a lot of usefulness to a Home Automation setup.
