Hello,

I have the CM15A on my house since 7 months ago, but on the last 2 weeks it has been suddenly not receiving the RF commands transmitted from my Palmpad. The events and macros are working without problem.

First, I thought the problem was on the Palmpad, but it's not, because if I do a reset on the CM15A, - unplug it and remove the batteries by 1 minute, then install the batteries again and connect it to the line -, starts to work again receiving the RF commands from the Palmpad, but one or two days after that, stops to receive the RF commands again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, this isn't going to help you, but you should feel special. I don't think we have seen this before...at least I don't remember ever hearing of an RF only lock up fixed by the CM15A battery dance.

If it's new send it back.

Mine does the same thing after about 13 months.  Too old to send back.  I just bought another and hope it lasts a little longer.

I think this is the way X10 makes a profit.  :'

Sounds like it is failing. Powering down must reset the thing until it locks up again.

Thank you for you comments.

Also I noticed with this issue, that if I try to connect it to the PC, it display an USB error. I have to reset the CM15A.

If you don´t know about this fail, and WannaX10 had to buy one, then I´m on trouble.  :(

By fortune, the events are not stopping (by now).

I too occasionally run into the same problem with different palmpads. Most of the time, just few turns of the batteries in palmpad does the trick.

I solved the problem, by now, and it´s RF working again:

- Removed the batteries on CM15A.
- Cleared the CM15A memory using AHP.
- Unplugged it from AC line.
- Plugged it again.
- Downloaded the events.
- Installed the batteries.

And it has been working by a week  8) , so I hope it won´t fail again.

Bad news.
Like the Murphy´s law, my CM15A failed again yesterday at night: It stops to receive RF commands only.   >*<

So, again, I tried to connect to my laptop, and windows displayed: “Unknown USB device”, and until I reset the CM15A, it starts to receive RF commands, and I can connect it to laptop.

I thought this issue was solved, because it was working well by a week. But I was wrong.  B:(

Because of the way the RF frontend is designed in the CM15A, if it is located in an area where there is high ambient RF noise then you can have problems with remotes & sensors being heard by the receiver. Resetting the unit also resets the internal RF reference level, so things will start to work again for a while unit the reference average rises too high again over time.

However, having said this, this does not explain why your PC also does not recognize the unit. So your problem may be a different one, but I wanted to add a FYI for how RF can stop working while PLC still does.

Voltgar

Puck, thank you for the information.

It´s a good point to consider it.
