I had an accidental discovery this morning. I had been out getting a little exercise and stopped at a yard sale. At the sale was the typical baby monitor set. This sale had a very nice set marked at only $3. I brough it home [although I am not really sure why].
If I exit through the garage.. and set the alarm [using a KR10A] before I raise big door I can just barely hear my alarm consoles single chime. If I raise the big door first.. traffic noise is generally enough to drown out any chime sound. Returning home poses the same problem... but I generally just chance it, that the alarm is disarmed when I press the KR10A disarm button. So I am standing there... with a $3 garage sale baby monitor in my hands... pushing the KR10A's disarm button and hoping that the chime I can't hear is chiming. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then.- So I set down the receiving unit in the garage and plugged it in.
- Then I placed the sending unit beside the alarms (PS561) console and plugged it in.
That's it... installation was complete. I can now hear the chimes in the garage clear as a bell.. although the arm [single] chime sounds more like a big click. I think that may be more the units I purchased than anything else.
Simply putting the monitors on the three prong appliance modules set to the security light code should prevent any outside [baby monitor] broadcasts (in MOST cases). And allow for the remote use of the KR10A.
This isn't a solution for everyone. But some people may find it handy... particularly if you can't hear your chime... and you have the old baby monitors packed up with the baby clothes.
