Transceivers and such...
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:40:55 AM »

I want to install an Active Eye outside. The signals won't reach my CM15A. I thought I could use an tranceiver (RR501) in an outlet close by the Active Eye, but it doesn't seem to work. It works if I have it close to the CM15A but not in the situtation I am trying. I have tried setting the HC to be transeived and not tranceived but it still won't go in the spot I want it to. The house is coupled and everything else works fine. What to do?

The RR501 should receive the Active Eyes RF signal and send a power line signal back to the CM15A.
You may have a signal power line signal probelm from the RR510 to the CM15A.
As a test can you use the Active Eye on the same House Code as the RR501 Unit Code 1 or 9 and see it it will turn the RR501s local outlet on and off. Maybe a light bulb as an indicator maybe easy to watch.

Ok, so setting the HC/UC to the RR501 HC/UC turned the light on. What does this mean?

Funny that the RR501 can be polled correctly but it won't transmit the signal from the Active Eye. I MUST be doing something wrong.

That is a strange one.
The Active Eye will turn the RR501 on and off. So the RR501 is receiving RF signals.
The CM15A can poll the RR501 and it sends back its status of on or off. So its power line transmitter seems to be functioning.
Yet the RF signal from the Active Eye thought the RR501 doesn't get a power line signal back to the CM15A.

There are no impolite TM751s in the mix are there?

Since the RR501 and CM15A are polite. I wounder if the Cm15A maybe also sometimes receiving the RF from the Active Eye and transceiveing it back to the power line. Thought you said you tried it both ways.

Maybe someone will have more thoughts on something we missed.

I have 2 TM751's in the house. Things just seem to work better overall for me with them.

Not on the same house codes as the RR501?
It is possible the TM751 could be receiving the RF signal and if it is the same house code. Blindly stepping on the power line signals.
If they are on a different house code it should not matter.
