Just bought this house, has 20 year old existing security system (2 ctrl panels) windows and doors already wired with switches (except sunroom)
If anyone can point me to a package or two to get me started (Active Home, DS7000,
)
Have experience with older x-10 stuff (x-10 is great!)
had landline based monitoring (ackerman).
old Ademco Vector 2000 security system (~1989)
Two control panels (would like to stay with 2 ctrl panels up/down stairs - or 1 ctrl panel + remote)
Want to trash the control panels, get X-10. I know they can do what i want its just a matter of picking out the right items.
Prefer to use my existing wired door/window sensors instead of having to change batteries in some wireless sensor.
want glass breakage acoustic/shock sensors for sunroom - might be better than window switches
Instead of relying on 120V, prefer run off some gel cell battery backup (any systems have this capability?)
Would like some "what was that?" activity such as turning on master br light at intrusion attempt: glass breakage or loud noise downstairs.
Tie in to smoke/fire alarms (right now have 3 diff fire/smoke/co? sensors upstairs all old and will be replaced with probably 2 or 3 combo smoke/fire/co )
email messaging or other non iphone app compatible to alert me. dont want a phone landline
Labeling of zones so i know what went off (active home pro can do this).
Any other useful devices? interested in installing and being able to view security cameras remotely (future project). hopefully record video/sound to deliver to authorities on breakin (future project).
