Issues with Returns?
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:40:27 AM »

Hello there-

I'm looking for someone who's had experience trying to get a return out of these people.  I sent in a B&W wireless camera over 2 weeks ago.  I sent it registered mail with a signature required so I can prove they received it.  Then I followed up with a phone call and was told it could be up to 2 weekends before they process it.  Well, it's been two weekends now, and nothing.  I can't get through to anyone (call disconnected once, the helpful cust service people transferred me around a few times and eventually I lost the connection another time).
So now it's ANOTHER weekend and of course nobody's home in tech support.
Does anyone have any experience getting things RMA'd under warranty with the X10 people?  Was this a waste of time?

I am trying to get an order completely returned. Their products really don't work unless you only go thru one wall in a building. There products are a complete joke. Worst decision I have ever made in purchasing their products. I am arguing with them now about returning my order. About $ 900 worth. They say I did not comply with their 30 day return policy. This company is a complete 'scam'!

Not a complete scam.  From their price points, I can deduce that their marketing strategy is to move as much product as possible and provide little in the way of tech support.

But, all may not be lost.  In the unhappy event of your not being able to return the products, people in these forums are generally happy to help and provide direction.

I have to take exception to your description that the 'products are a complete joke'.  I've used them successfully for several years now.

If you can't eventually return your purchase, come back to us with a simple, starter project you want to implement.  We can probably help you get it going.  From there you can branch out.

Mel is right.

We "old timers" (apologies to all X10 geezers) knows most of X10 weakness and can usually find work arounds. But X10 is not "Plug - N- Play". 900 bucks tells me you ordered a bunch of stuff and it may take some massaging to get it all working smoothly. As far as "only going thru one wall", are you talking wireless video, or X10 RF control? What are the walls made of and how many?
