Timers Don't Work
« on: August 11, 2010, 06:57:56 PM »

Forgive me if there is a definitive answer for this, because I haven't been able to find it.  I've installed Active Home Pro on my Vista computer.  I can turn on and off lights, light modules, appliance modules, and dim the lights.  However, the timers do not work at all, even when the module is plugged into the same outlet as the control device.  Of course, email to X10 goes unanswered.  As per the chat board, I've installed the update.  Still nothing.  Thank you in advance. B:(

Is your AHP Kit using the CM15A or CM19A?
What version of AHP did you install as the update?

Have you made sure to set the "store in interface" option, and download the timers to the CM15A?

Well, that is an excellent question.  I do have the "store in interface" option checked, which is the default.  As to "downloading" to the CM15A, doesn't that happen automatically, as stated in the fairly crummy instruction manual?  I program on and off times, click on it, and the little clock turns green.  I assumed that's all that has to be done.  And by the way, the timers don't work even when the CM15A is plugged into the computer, and even when it's plugged into the computer and the module is plugged into the same outlet.

Not sure if you found the wiki AHP files. Maybe they may add more data.

Thanks for the update on the interface you have and version number of the software.
Now that some kits where developed with the CM19A/TM751 combination. It changed things.

Yes, I found the Wiki, but it doesn't address the problem of timers not working.  By the way, I am using a 30 year old X10 Powerhouse Timer, and never have had any problems with it (in my current house or my previous house).
I have looked at the "Find other computer" window, and see that the line for my house setting, A, has a lot of yellow boxes--in fact, a yellow box for every number I'm not using.  "M" is all yellow boxes.  Would I be better off switching my house code to "B," where there are no yellow boxes?

3.228 is the last good version of AHP.   If you can post any pics of what's going on, that would be helpful.   The only other thing is where is the CM15A plugged into?   If no timer is working, it's either major noise blocking X10 signals or something very, very wrong with your timers.

I have tried the CM15A in several outlets.  I've had it plugged into a mulit-jack extension cord, with a module plugged in next to it.  Still won't work.  My 30 year old timer works, my Plug 'n' Power works, my RCA brand transceiver works--but not the timers.  Attached find a screen grab.

Any time you create or change a timer or macro and want it to run, you should go to the Tools menu and "Clear Interface Memory" and then "Download Timers and Macros".  With the CM15A connected to the computer, of course.  ;)

The little icons at the bottom right of your picture are huge clues.
The pair of arrows are telling you to send the information to your CM15A.
The disc is telling you to save the file to your computer.
I think the automatic download to the CM15A only happens when you save the file, but an extra click on the appropriate icon when it shows really isn't a big deal.

Aha, yes, I noticed those little icons but thought nothing of it.  I have, however, as suggested gone into tools and cleaned out the interface (not that there could be much in there anyway) and then downloaded the timer.  I tried it on a module plugged in back-to-back with the CM15A.  And darn it, it worked!!!!  Now I have to try plugging the CM15A into a better location, and see if it will work as intended.  Thanks!
Addendum: I have also found that when I have the compact flourescent bulbs on in the room with the CM15A, that stops the signal to my RCA transceiver.
