AM14A Schematic

Gang,

I have old 2-way appliance module that is dead.  Unfortunately it ain't as simple as "that tube isn't lit".   (You youngins will have to ask an old geezer what that means.)

I would like to fix it as I have one of those "must know status" applications. Has anyone seen schematics for the AM14A?

How about. Why is that final tube glowing cherry red and the envelope is sucking in?  ;)

Gee, I thought that is the way finals on a Motrac was supposed to run.  rofl

I have seen more than one x10 device eat the small signal diodes. You can buzz em out in circuit. They should only conduct one way and they re the 1n914 / 1n4148 variety.

Thanks Bits, I will check forward and reverse on all the diodes...maybe will get lucky. My luck will be a bad zener and I won't know breakdown voltage.

It's times like these I wish I had an O'scope.

Let me actually do some "blind" troubleshooting first. I really have not done any "probing" at all. Might end up being something easy/obvious.

Well when my RR501 got flaky. I found the PC Board around the Zener Diode was dark and the solder had gotten flaky.
Same for the low value resistor in series with the cap to the line connection.
I replaced the zener with two hand picked in series for a better wattage rating and the main filter cap with a larger value.
